A 3 mile or 4 mile or heck Tiffany and I once made it a 13 mile out and back (China Bar down to Avery Pond and back finishing with Cardiac Hill—don’t recommend that one). Many extras you can add, but the meat and potatoes of the climb starts at Oregon Bar and ends at the top of the hill, just over a mile, just over a 1,000 feet of climbing, with an average grade of 15%.

Direction: Auburn-Folsom Road to Maidu Drive to China Bar State Park. $10 or yearly pass. Free parking up the road but we love our parks so pay.
Scores on scale from 1-10:
| Climb | 7 | Would be higher but short. |
| Shade | 5 | Recommend getting there early if you go on Summer days. |
| Trail | 8 | Well marked & maintained. |
| Crowds | 5 | Always people but never too many. |
| Noise | 2 | A lower score on this means less noise. |
| Wildlife | 4-8 | Varies a lot by season. Newts in Spring get an 8! |
| Photography | 5 | Varies by season. Good landscapes. Wildlife keeps low profile. |
